The Dear Man
Ok...So I had to go to Old Forge to take a photo of this 80-year-old man who was arrested for feeding the deer in his yard. To make a long story short, it seems
that Andy Bozek had been feeding the deer for 40 years. He was so well known, his little house off of South Shore Road, on Forth Lake was a tourist attraction. Last year he documents that over 800 visitors came to see the deer that had come to his feeder. When the tourists came, they would sign his guestbook.
The problem is that the great state of New York passed a law a few years ago making it illegal to feed deer within 300 feet of a public highway. Of course, this law was passed to protect both deer and humans that are injured frequently in car / deer accidents.
Now Andy's property, which is on a dead end road, is just a few feet over the limit. In fact his next door neighbors can feed the deer if they want to. But Andy can not. Well one day "the man" came and arrested Andy and he was scheduled to go on trial. So, the reporter and I headed to Old Forge to do a story and photos on this controversy.
Anywayzzzzzzzzz, I went to get Andy's picture. So I'm sitting on Andy's porch steps with him, just about 2 feet away from him with my face behind the camera that is focused on his face waiting for the-mother-of- all-facial-expressions. All of a sudden, I see this little chipmunk easing his way toward Andy.
I'm thinking, "Boy, wouldn't this be a great shot if the chipmunk jumped up on Andy to show what a great friend he is to the animals?" "This would be the perfect shot!!!"
As the chipmunk gets closer and closer to Andy, I am ready to snap the shutter at the right moment. Now I'm thinking, "No, I can't get this lucky."
Well, as luck has it, I ran out of film, and reloaded. Then, as I am picking the camera up to my face again, I look out of the corner of my eye, and approaching Andy and I is ... click here to find out .....
